Prof. Nasser El Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the university's advancement globally in the Webometrics Citation Ranking for January 2025. The university has achieved an increase in the number of scientific citations from its intellectual output, reaching 312,924 citations in this edition, compared to 282,420 citations in the previous edition, marking an increase of 30,504 citations in just six months.
Prof. Nasser El Gizawy pointed out that the ranking is based on calculating citations through the publicly available profiles on Google Scholar for 310 faculty members associated with the university, "Benha University," after excluding the top 20 profiles from the list.
He added that Benha University's progress in this ranking is a result of the university's efforts to support scientific research by encouraging faculty members, assistant staff, and young researchers to publish their scientific papers in internationally classified journals with high impact factors. He explained that the Webometrics ranking is one of the most important international rankings, assessing global universities based on their research status, while also aiming to improve the online presence of higher education and research institutions and encouraging the publication of peer-reviewed articles in an open-access manner.
Prof. Jehan Abdelhady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that Benha University ranked 9th among the Egyptian universities and research institutions, which totaled 52 in this edition.
The university also ranked 1084 globally, among 6054 research institutions and universities listed in this edition worldwide.
