Under the auspices of: Prof. Nasser Al-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the workshop on "Particle Therapy for Cancer" was inaugurated by Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research, organized by the Faculty of Science in the Prof. Hossam El-Din El-Attar Hall at the university's campus in Al-Obour City.

• Prof. Mohamed Heikal, Dean of the Faculty of Science
• Prof. Hazem Aliwa, Academic Director of the Al-Obour campus
• Prof. Nahid Al-Barqi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development
• A number of faculty members and students
Workshop Content:
• The workshop discussed the direct impact of basic research on medical applications.
• Participants learned about diagnostic techniques used in cancer treatment, including X-rays, protons, and carbon ions through computer programs.
• Practical training was provided on the MatRad program, which illustrates various diagnostic steps used in cancer treatment.
Objectives of the Workshop:
• To directly inform students about the latest advancements in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
• To enhance international cooperation between academic and research institutions, as it is being held for the fourth consecutive year in collaboration with the GSI Institute and the European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN.
Additional Notes:
• Prof. Mohamed Heikal stated that integrating the particle therapy course into the main international physics training reflects the significant role of these technologies in the medical field.
• The participation of Benha University students with teams from four global universities provided a unique opportunity for international exposure and teamwork.
