Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the President of Benha University, announced that the university has achieved the 29th position locally among 54 research institutions in Egypt, including universities, hospitals, and health institutes, according to the Nature Index for Scientific Research. The university is ranked 21st among 31 Egyptian universities (governmental, private, and non-profit).
Prof. El-Gizawy added that the university is ranked 6201st globally out of 18853 research institutions worldwide, and 3044th among 5228 academic institutions globally. The university's international research collaboration index stands at 91.5%, while local research collaboration is at 8.5%.
The President explained that the Nature Index is a performance indicator for institutional research, measuring scientific output objectively by counting contributions from the number of international research articles published in high-quality natural science journals across five broad fields: biological sciences, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, health sciences, and physical sciences. These journals are selected based on their reputation by an independent group of researchers, and the Nature Index data is regularly updated, providing the latest information from the past 12 months.
Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, the Vice President of the University for postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that the university has been classified in three fields, ranking 12th locally in health sciences, 15th in biological sciences, and 21st in chemistry among local research institutions.
