Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the President of Benha University, welcomed Ambassador Hilda Klimtstad, the Norwegian Ambassador in Cairo, along with a delegation from the United Nations Population Fund and representatives from the National Council for Women during their visit to the university.
The meeting was attended by:
• Prof. El-Sayed Fouda, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.
• Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research.
• Dr. Iman Rayan, Deputy Governor of Kalyobiya.
• Dr. Salma Doura, member of the National Council for Women and Chair of the Health and Population Committee.
• Dr. Sherine Barakat, rapporteur of the National Council for Women in Kalyobiya.
• Several academic and administrative leaders from the university.
Prof. El-Gizawy stated that the visit aims to monitor the implementation of the strategy against violence towards women and to discuss ways to collaborate between Benha University and the United Nations Fund to enhance a safe educational environment for women at all levels within the university.
The President highlighted the crucial role played by the units combating violence against women at Benha University, emphasizing the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for women and girls in both work and education. This aligns with the Egyptian government's efforts to empower women in various economic, social, cultural, and political fields, contributing to sustainable development and supporting Egypt's Vision 2030.
Prof. El-Gizawy confirmed Benha University's commitment to empowering women in all leadership and administrative positions within the university, noting that women's exceptional ability to give and innovate is fundamental to building strong and prosperous academic communities. He emphasized the university's continued support for all initiatives that enhance women's status and enable them to achieve greater success in various fields.
For her part, Ambassador Hilda Klimtstad affirmed the close ties between Egypt and Norway, expressing her country's pride in enhancing cooperation with Egypt in various fields and her happiness to be at Benha University.
During the visit, the Norwegian Ambassador and her accompanying delegation also visited the unit for combating violence against women at the university, held a meeting with its officials, and met with the medical team in the Safe Woman Unit at the university hospital, as well as visiting the clinic.
