Engineer Ayman Attia, the Governor of Kalyobiya, and Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, inaugurated the scientific conference titled "Digitization and Sustainable Development in Light of Egypt's Vision 2030: Current Status and Future Prospects." The event was organized by the Faculty of Commerce at the university's campus in Al-Obour City, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The conference was attended by:
• Prof. Soheir Shaarawy, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University and former Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
• Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University.
• Prof. Karim El-Dash, Vice President of Benha National University for International Relations.
• Prof. Suleiman Mustafa, former Vice President of Benha University.
• Prof. Essam El-Gohary, Assistant Minister of Local Development for Training, Development, and Digital Transformation.
• Numerous professors from Egyptian and Arab universities across various fields of commercial sciences, along with representatives from ministries and regulatory bodies, such as the Ministry of Local Development and the Egyptian Association of Accountants and Auditors.
Engineer Ayman Attia emphasized that digitization is a method employed by the state across various sectors, particularly in local development, to achieve sustainable development and realize Egypt's Vision 2030. He highlighted the importance of adapting to global changes and fostering a culture of digital transformation to ensure a secure future. He noted that Benha University serves as a center of expertise for the governorate, guiding its development.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy remarked that digitization is one of the fundamental pillars of Egypt's Vision 2030, contributing to enhancing efficiency and innovation across all economic and social sectors. He stated that sustainable development represents the ultimate goal, achieved through optimal resource investment and environmental preservation for future generations.
He added that digitization plays a pivotal role in reshaping the modern economy by improving efficiency and providing innovative growth opportunities. By applying digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, and the Internet of Things, companies can significantly enhance production and distribution processes, reducing costs and increasing productivity. He pointed out that digitization contributes to the growth of the digital economy, where electronic platforms and e-commerce markets have become essential in global buying and selling operations. Additionally, digitization opens doors for the emergence of tech-based startups, fostering innovation and creating new jobs. With these potentials, the digital economy can act as a catalyst for sustainable economic development, balancing economic growth with reduced environmental impact.
Prof. Magdy Meligi, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, stated that the conference aimed to utilize modern technologies such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, and big data analytics in commercial sciences, aligning with the fifth goal of Egypt's Vision 2030 concerning environmental sustainability.
He also mentioned that the conference included discussions on 50 research papers across four main themes: accounting and auditing in addressing digitization issues, digitization of management in the era of sustainable artificial intelligence, digitization and economic sustainability, and the role of statistics in enhancing digitization and sustainability.
The conference featured a presentation by Prof. Essam El-Gohary, highlighting the efforts of the Ministry of Local Development in supporting digital transformation through technological centers and building specialized human capital in this field. Contributions were also made by Prof. Doaa Hatem El-Gamal, a professor of accounting at Northampton University in the UK, and several professors from international universities, including Bangor University.
