Benha University Advanced 109 Global Ranks in the CWUR Ranking for 2025

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the university president, announced the university's progress in the CWUR (Center for World University Rankings) classification for 2025, both globally and locally. The university achieved the 1474th position worldwide among more than 20,000 participating universities, advancing 109 positions globally, and ranked 13th locally.
Prof. El-Gizawy noted that Benha University first appeared in the CWUR ranking in 2019-2020 edition as a result of policies implemented by the university in the field of international rankings, which led to several measures encouraging researchers to publish distinguished international scientific work and supporting research publication in internationally classified journals and other scientific research support programs. This had a positive impact on this year's ranking, as the university improved its position in the research performance index to 1417, advancing 93 places from the previous edition.
Prof. Jehan Abdelhady, the university's vice president for postgraduate studies and research, stated that the CWUR selects only 2000 universities from among 20,000 worldwide, ranking them based on four main criteria:
• Quality of Education (25%),
• Alumni Employment (25%),
• Quality of Faculty (10%),
• Research Performance (40%).
The research performance included four sub-criteria, each accounting for 10%:
• Total number of research papers,
• Number of distinguished papers,
• Number of papers published in high-impact journals,
• Research citations.
CWUR is a leading advisory organization that provides policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes. Based in the UAE since 2012, CWUR publishes the only academic ranking of universities that evaluates the quality of education, alumni employment, research outputs, and citations without relying on surveys or university data submissions. It began with the goal of ranking the top 100 universities globally. In 2019, the ranking expanded to include the best 2000 universities out of twenty thousand worldwide.
