Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy , President of Benha University, announced that the university ranked 39th out of 1,181 worldwide in achieving the seventh goal "Clean Energy," and second among Egyptian universities. The university also ranked 87th out of 1,089 worldwide in the thirteenth goal "Climate Action," again coming in second among Egyptian universities. Furthermore, it ranked 35th out of 2,389 worldwide in achieving the seventeenth goal "Partnerships for the Goals," also securing second place among Egyptian universities.
Prof. El-Gizawy explained that the THE Impact Rankings reflect the institution's commitment to supporting the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals in education, scientific research, and knowledge transfer, as well as embodying these goals in its internal practices. The ranking relies on various indicators across three areas:
published scientific research over the last five years in global journals by Elsevier, awareness activities, and the management and supervision of achieving sustainable development goals.
Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hady, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that the university ranked in the 201 - 300 categories out of 2,526 universities globally from 130 countries, improving by two categories from the previous edition. Locally, Benha University ranked second, sharing the position with other universities among 51 public and private Egyptian universities in the Times Higher Education ranking for higher education institutions in sustainable development.
