The Benha University Council held its meeting chaired by Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, with the presence of Engineer Ayman Atya, Governor of Kalyobiya, Prof. El-Sayed Fouda, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research, and esteemed council members.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy opened the session by congratulating President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of the glorious June 30 Revolution, affirming that it embodies the will of the Egyptian people and their desire to preserve their identity and shape their destiny with their free will. He added that the June 30 Revolution will remain a symbol of national determination, confirming that Egypt is always capable of renewal and moving towards a better future.
Engineer Ayman Atya, Governor of Kalyobiya, expressed his happiness at attending the Benha University Council, confirming that there is ongoing and fruitful cooperation between the university and the governorate in various fields to provide the best services to citizens. He pointed out that efforts are being made within the framework of the state's plan to achieve sustainable development across the governorate in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy praised the significant progress made by Benha University in international indicators, which recently appeared for the first time in the QS World Ranking by Subject for 2025. The university ranked among the top 50 universities worldwide for achieving the clean energy goal in the Times Higher Education Sustainable Development Ranking for 2025 and appeared among the top 10 universities in Egypt with a global advancement in the U.S. News ranking for 2025-2026. The university advanced 109 positions globally in the CWUR ranking for 2025, as a result of the policies adopted by the university in the field of international rankings and the subsequent measures to encourage researchers to publish outstanding international scientific work and support the publication of research in internationally ranked journals and other scientific research support programs.
Prof. El-Gizawy confirmed that Benha University plays an important role in supporting sustainable development goals through a variety of educational, research, and community initiatives. It prioritizes enhancing quality education by updating curricula and developing the capabilities of students and researchers to keep pace with global challenges. The university also actively contributes to scientific research targeting issues such as clean energy, good health, and clean living, linking scientific research to industry. He noted that through its numerous partnerships with civil society, the university works on implementing projects that serve the environment and support local economic growth, thus enhancing its role as a pillar in achieving sustainable development at local, regional, and international levels.
He also directed the necessity of focusing on implementing the student activities plan and utilizing the summer vacation period to hold seminars, events, and various awareness activities to benefit from the energies of youth and foster a sense of belonging and loyalty among them, as well as to continue supporting and discovering talented students in various fields.
The university president reviewed the preparations for the start of the summer semester, scheduled to begin in mid-July, confirming that 25% of the college results have been announced and directing the need to follow up on the correction work and expedite the announcement of the remaining results, especially concerning the final year results during this week.
Prof. El-Gizawy explained that a number of scholarships have been allocated within the university for the children of Sinai, the children of martyrs from the army and police, and high-achieving students from STEM schools. He emphasized that these scholarships come as part of Benha University's commitment to providing distinguished community service by supporting and motivating outstanding students, affirming their important and influential role in developing the educational and research process and serving the community.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy mentioned that Bidaya Company has launched the initiative "Our Identity is Our Distinction" for the second year, targeting students, graduates, and civil society during the summer, which aims to support and develop young skills and community awareness.
The university president also emphasized the need to resume annual maintenance work on university buildings and facilities, taking into account the university's visual identity, which contributes to building a strong and positive mental image among students, faculty members, and civil society.
