For the Second Time: Benha University Celebrated the Power of Determination in a Sports Festival for People of Determination

On September 1, 2025, Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the university's hosting of the "Sports Festival for People of Determination" for universities in the Delta and Greater Cairo regions for the second consecutive year. The event will continue until September 3, 2025.
Highlights:
1. Participants:
• 11 Egyptian Universities:
Cairo, Mansoura, Tanta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Helwan, Menoufia, Sadat City, Damietta, Zagazig, Ain Shams, and Benha.
• Competitions:
• Weightlifting
• Athletics (races, jumps, throws)
• Five-a-Side Football
• Table Tennis
• "Ideal Male and Female Student" Award (evaluating academic, athletic, and leadership excellence).
2. Leadership Vision:
• Prof. El-Gizawy emphasized the university's commitment to:
• Integrating people of determination into society through activities that showcase their capabilities.
• Providing fair competitive platforms to boost confidence and challenge stereotypes.
• Supporting them as "partners in development" by harnessing their creativity for national progress.
3. Strategic Impact:
• Regional Collaboration: Strengthening ties between Delta and Greater Cairo universities through sports partnerships.
• Redefining Disability: Highlighting success stories to inspire societal change.
• Alignment with Egypt 2030 Vision: Promoting social justice and empowering marginalized groups.
Why This Event Matters:
• Sustained Success: Benha University's second hosting underscores its capacity to organize large-scale, socially impactful events.
• Diverse Competitions: A blend of physical sports (e.g., weightlifting) and tactical activities (e.g., table tennis) fosters multifaceted skill development.
• Psychological Empowerment: Participants gain opportunities to express themselves beyond traditional academic frameworks.
Inspiring Context:
In 2024, the first edition of the festival saw a 40% increase in sports participation by students with disabilities at Egyptian universities, according to local reports. This reflects growing awareness of sports as a tool for social empowerment.
The festival concludes in two days (September 3), offering a final chance for the public to support emerging talents and reinforce the ethos that "disability does not hinder achievement."
