Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the University's participation in the International Seminar for Training Distinguished Teachers from Developing Countries. The seminar is held until September 18th of this month at Zhejiang University in China, under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China .
This participation comes within the framework of supporting academic relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Republic of China, and as part of Benha University's efforts to enhance its international presence and exchange expertise in various fields .
Benha University is represented by Prof.Dr. Sahar Abdel Rahman, the Executive Director of the University's Center for Professional Development. She is part of a delegation comprising a select group of experts and educators from several countries, including: Egypt, Zimbabwe, The Gambia, Croatia, and Uzbekistan .
Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy emphasized that Benha University's participation aligns with its orientation towards international openness and building bridges of scientific cooperation with prestigious global universities. This aims to elevate the standard of the University education and exchange best international practices and experiences. He added that the seminar aims to support and develop the capabilities of teachers in developing countries, and enhance educational and cultural exchange between China and its partners from the Global South, within the context of the "Belt and Road" initiative and strengthening strategic partnerships in education .
For her part, Prof. Sahar Abdel Rahman stated that participation in this program represents a positive step towards transferring successful educational experiences and deepening mutual understanding between cultures. She pointed out the importance of benefiting from the Chinese experience in developing teacher preparation systems and employing technology in education. She noted that the program includes a number of lectures and workshops addressing topics such as teacher competencies in the digital age, models of educational development in China, and strategies for multicultural education .
The opening session featured welcoming speeches from officials of the host university, in addition to a presentation of the program's vision and objectives. Representatives of the participating countries also delivered speeches expressing their appreciation for this distinguished educational opportunity .
The program also includes field visits to major Chinese cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou to learn about pioneering educational experiences and observe models of rural education in China .
