Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Prof. Mohamed El-Dwini, Deputy of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, inaugurated the seminar titled "Faith First" organized by Benha University in collaboration with the Islamic Research Complex.
The event was attended by:
• Prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research,
• Prof. Mohamed Abdel Dayem, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Complex,
• Prof. Hassan Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Da'wah Affairs,
• Academic and administrative leaders,
• Al-Azhar representatives in Kalyobiya Governorate,
• The Director of Military Education,
• University students.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy emphasized:
"By organizing this seminar under the title 'Faith First', we lay the cornerstone for all human, spiritual, and national endeavors. Faith is the light that illuminates life's path, the force that drives humanity toward goodness, and the anchor of steadfastness amid trials. True faith manifests in righteous deeds, honesty, integrity, and compassion—it is not mere words but lived behavior. Faith grants psychological peace and harmony with oneself and the universe, knowing all occurs by divine decree."
He added:
"Faith in God is obligatory, and faith in one's homeland is equally vital. The homeland is not just land but identity, belonging, history, and future. To believe in the homeland is to love its soil, protect it, work for its prosperity, and reject threats to its security. Faith is the compass guiding humanity toward truth, preventing deviation. When faith comes first, individuals gain resilience against challenges, commitment to duties, and love for people and nation."
Prof. El-Gizawy also highlighted faith in divine destiny (qadar):
"Belief in destiny instills deep tranquility, empowering believers to endure hardships without despair. It does not mean passivity but recognizing that striving and effort are part of God's plan. A faithful person works diligently, then accepts God's decree—whether success or trial—trusting in His wisdom."
"Let faith be our guiding light in relationships with God, people, and homeland. Through faith, nations are built, values preserved, and futures shaped."
Prof. Mohamed El-Dwini, Deputy of Al-Azhar, conveyed greetings from Grand Imam Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and congratulated attendees on the anniversary of the October War victories. He stressed:
"Calling to God is a religious duty and societal obligation—the mission of prophets and reformers. Today's challenges demand a renewed focus on Islamic identity and scholarly guidance. Just as medicine requires specialists, religious edicts (fatwas) must come from qualified scholars to safeguard society."
Prof. Mohamed Abdel Dayem noted:
"This seminar series aligns with Al-Azhar's plan to engage university youth, correct misconceptions, and anchor faith as the foundation of character. Faith equips youth to balance material ambitions with spiritual needs and counter extremist ideologies."
Prof. Hassan Yahya, Assistant Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Da'wah Affairs, highlighted that these seminars are part of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's initiative "A New Beginning for developing the Human Being", aiming to foster dialogue, spiritual growth, and responsibility among youth.
The seminar concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session with students.
