Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the conclusion of the visit of Dr. Richard Berman, Vice President of the University of South Florida for Strategic Initiatives, Research, and Innovation. This visit was part of the ongoing cooperation between Benha University and Fulbright Egypt through the Fulbright Specialist Program .
Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy stated that the visit reflects Benha University's commitment to enhancing academic expertise exchange, supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, and linking scientific research with industry, particularly through cooperation with the Biotechnology Incubator (BBI) and the university's own innovation programs . For her part, Prof.Dr. Jehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that Professor Richard Berman participated in extensive meetings where he delivered a series of specialized workshops and lectures. These sessions addressed topics such as enhancing the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the university, building an entrepreneurial mindset among students and faculty members, global best practices in supporting startups and companies stemming from scientific research, and empowering researchers and students to transition from research ideas to startups .
The Vice President of the University added that Professor Richard Berman's visit represented an important addition to the university's journey in developing its innovation and entrepreneurship system, supporting startups, and enhancing international cooperation in scientific and technological fields. She pointed to continued work with Fulbright on future initiatives that serve the university's strategic plan .
It is mentioned that during the visit, Professor Berman held numerous direct meetings with startups affiliated with the Biotechnology Incubator and the Medical and Laboratory Devices Incubator (MedTech). These startups presented their technical and research projects and discussed opportunities for development, sustainability, and market access. The visit also included a tour of the Benha University campus and the "Creativa Benha" center to view the innovation-supporting infrastructure, in addition to a number of informational and cultural tours .
The visit was attended by several entities from within the University, including the Director of the Technology Innovation Support and Technology Transfer Office (TICO) and his team, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Club and his team, the Director of the Benha University Biotechnology Incubator (BBI) and his team, the Director of the Benha University Medical and Laboratory Devices Incubator (MedTech) and his team, the Director of the Sustainable Development Unit at the university, the Director of the Center for Gifted and Talented Care and his team, the Director of the Patents Center and his team, and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and his team .
