Under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and in the presence of Prof.Dr. Amjad Hegazy, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the faculty organized a seminar titled "The Impact of Drama on Societal Awareness" in cooperation with the Media Department.
Prof.Dr. Sherin El-Shoura, the Faculty's Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, indicated that the seminar was presented by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Badea, Professor of Media at the Faculty of Arts. It was coordinated with Professor Rania Moataz, the University's Assistant Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The seminar discussed the vital role drama plays in shaping societal awareness, and its direct and indirect impact on individuals' culture and behaviors. It highlighted that dramatic works are among the most important tools of soft power, reflecting society's values and trends, and contribute to opening discussions on important social issues such as identity, human relationships, the role of women, and social justice.
The seminar also shed light on the positive aspect of drama in spreading awareness and correcting misconceptions, in addition to discussing the challenges associated with purposeful drama versus commercial drama, and how to guide dramatic content to be a constructive tool for society.
The seminar witnessed a wide attendance from students of the Media Department, the faculty, and those interested in cultural affairs, enriching the discussions on the issue of drama and its impact on society. Attendees presented insightful perspectives reflecting their understanding of drama's role in shaping awareness and directing behavior.
