Under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy , President of Benha University, and in the presence of Prof.Dr. Amjad Hegazy, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty organized a scientific symposium titled "The Arabic Language and the Challenges of the Digital Age" in cooperation with the Arabic Language Department.
Prof.Dr. Sherin Al-Shawarbi , Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, indicated that the symposium was presented by Dr. Ahmed Alwanī, Professor of Literary Criticism and Rhetoric and Head of the Arabic Language Department, in coordination with Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant University Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
The symposium discussed and analyzed the Arabic language's ability to keep pace with digital transformations and the rapid developments in our contemporary world. It addressed the structural and semantic flexibility that characterizes our Arabic language, granting it the ability not only to confront digital challenges but also to achieve an effective presence and a clear triumph in many fields of technological development.
The symposium also covered the most prominent struggles the Arabic language has faced throughout its history amid scientific progress, and the achievements it has made that prove its authenticity and capacity for renewal. It discussed the internal and external causes that have led to manifestations of linguistic weakness in some Arab environments, emphasizing that preserving the integrity of the language is preserving cultural and cognitive identity.
The symposium witnessed a wide attendance from students of the Arabic Language Department and the Faculty, as well as a number of individuals interested in cultural affairs, which contributed to enriching the discussion and exchanging perspectives. Students greatly benefited from the symposium's themes and participated with a set of inquiries and suggestions that enriched the dialogue and contributed to broadening the horizons of the discussion.
At the conclusion of the symposium, a group of students from the Arabic Language Department who participated in the Department's competition were honored in appreciation of their efforts, excellence, and contributions to academic activities.
