Under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University,Prof.Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof.Dr. Amani Abbas, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a veterinary convoy in the village of Nawy, Shibin Al-Qanater Center. This initiative is part of the University's role in serving the community.
Prof.Dr. Ehab El-Nahas, the Faculty's Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the convoy was attended by Dr. Hany Shams, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Qalyubia, and coordinated by Ms. Rania Mo'taz, the University's Assistant Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The convoy conducted medical examinations and check-ups on various animals and provided free treatment for all examined cases. It also offered veterinary awareness on certain diseases, particularly foot-and-mouth disease, and distributed general guidelines for dealing with the illness.
The convoy aimed to examine cases including 45 buffalo and cows, 70 sheep and goats, and 24 equine cases. An ultrasound device was used to examine 25 other farm animals, and 10,725 cases of poultry (chickens, ducks, pigeons, and ornamental birds) were handled. Additionally, 18 surgical procedures were performed. Medicine was provided free of charge for all cases.
