Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, opened a workshop titled "Carbon Emissions: Towards a Sustainable Future," organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, with the attendance of Prof. Gehan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The workshop featured presentations by Prof. Samir Ahmed Ali, a professor at the Faculty of Agriculture and a member of the university's Carbon Neutrality Committee, and Prof. Rami Mohamed Ramadan, Director of the Egyptian Center for Biopesticides and a committee member, along with Mrs. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and several vice deans for community service and environmental development from various faculties.
The President of the University emphasized that the workshop is part of the implementation of the schedule set by the Central Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment and Carbon Neutrality, which aims to ensure a unified zero-carbon footprint across all theoretical and practical faculties, geographical branches, advanced university hospitals, residential cities hosting thousands of students, and all operational and service activities at the university.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy pointed out the university's commitment to being a pioneering institution in reducing carbon emissions and becoming an accredited reference, noting that Benha University's strategy and vision align perfectly with sustainable development goals.
The workshop included a presentation on carbon emissions and strategies for offsetting emissions, concluding with a discussion session where the speakers addressed participants' questions.
