Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy: Transforming Innovations into Competitive Startups Contributing to the Development of the Healthcare Sector
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, attended the conclusion of the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan "Innovating the Future of Healthcare," organized by the university in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute (ITI) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The event was attended by:
• Prof. Soheir Sharawy, Vice President of the Board of Trustees at Benha National University;
• Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University;
• Prof. Gehan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research;
• Prof. Ihab Al-Beblawy, Vice President of Zagazig University for Postgraduate Studies and Research;
• Prof. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Vice President of the Egyptian Japanese University; Prof. Shady Y. Al-Mashhad, Executive Director of Information;
• several academic and administrative leaders from the university.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy praised the innovative ideas and practical solutions presented by participants from Egyptian universities, reflecting the spirit of creativity and commitment to community service. He stated, "You have proven that the youth of Egypt can turn challenges into opportunities, and that the university is not just a place for learning, but a beacon for research, development, and contributing to building a better future."
The President thanked all participating teams, the organizing committees, and supporting partners, noting that this year's Hackathon activities mark the beginning of a long journey of cooperation between the university and the community in the field of smart healthcare, aiming to achieve a better quality of life for our citizens.
Prof. El-Gizawy urged students not to stop at the idea or prototype stage, but to invest in these innovations and work on transforming them into competitive startups that can contribute to the development of the smart healthcare sector in Egypt and the Arab world. He emphasized that Benha University will continue to support students in this journey, providing a nurturing environment that helps them turn their dreams into tangible realities and become pioneers in the field of health innovation.
Prof. Gehan Abdel Hady added that Benha University is keen to hold the Smart Healthcare Hackathon, which aims to support digital transformation and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 by enhancing innovation and encouraging creative youth in Egyptian universities and institutes to present their smart ideas and programmatic projects in various Hackathon fields.
Prof. Shady Y. Al-Mashhad, Executive Director of Information, explained that winning university teams were honored in the Hackathon competitions according to the specified competition fields and tracks, which include (Artificial Intelligence in Diagnosis, Remote Health Monitoring, Mental Health and Wellness, Facilitating Access to Healthcare, Telemedicine Solutions, Internet of Things for Elderly Care, Medical Data Analysis and Presentation) with a total of 175,000 Egyptian pounds provided by Benha University.
At the end of the celebration, Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, honored the winning teams in the various Hackathon tracks.
