The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a veterinary Convoy in Qarnfeil village, Kalyobiya, in collaboration with the Veterinary Medicine Directorate of Kalyobiya. This initiative is part of the university's role in serving the local community.
Prof. Ihab El-Nahas, the college's Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the Convoy was coordinated by Mrs. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and attended by Dr. Hany Shams, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate of Kalyobiya, in cooperation with Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Qandil, Director of the Educational Veterinary Hospital, along with the veterinary hospital staff and the clinical and scientific departments of the college.
El-Nahas pointed out that the Convoy conducted medical examinations on various animals and provided free treatment for all cases examined, in addition to offering veterinary awareness on certain diseases and distributing general guidelines on animal nutrition.
The Convoy aimed to conduct examinations and check-ups on 63 cases of buffalo and cattle, 15 cases of sheep and goats, and 32 cases of equine species. It also used ultrasound equipment to examine 61 other cases of farm animals and 671 cases of birds, performed 19 surgeries, and conducted microscopic analyses for 8 cases. All medications were provided free of charge to these cases.
