Publication and Citation Competition – January 2026 Cycle

Prof. Gehan Abdelhady, Vice President of Benha University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, stated that under the auspices of Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the technical committee for reviewing the scientific output of faculty members published in internationally indexed journals has announced the results of the International Publication and Citation Competition for the January 2026 cycle. This comes within the framework of improving the university's research outputs and encouraging faculty members to publish their work in global scientific journals.
The Vice President added that during this cycle, a total of 456 scientific papers were submitted to the competition across 12 faculties: Commerce, Arts, Specific Education, Nursing, Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Science, Engineering (Benha), and Engineering (Shoubra). Of these, 211 papers were Q1 (46% of the total), indicating the quality of the university's research output. The number of Q2 papers increased to 140, in addition to 65 Q3 papers and 19 Q4 papers.
She noted that this cycle also included four book chapters published with international publishers. Moreover, 110 faculty members applied to the Citation Competition through Google Scholar.
It was mentioned that appeals will be open for one week from the date of publication of the results on the university's website, ending on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Appeals must be sent to vp.pg@bu.edu.eg and must include the applicant's name, faculty, and research number (as listed in the published results sheet). Appeals lacking these details will not be considered. Final results will be announced again after the appeal period ends, and no appeals submitted after the deadline will be reviewed.
It is noted that applicants will be blacklisted and barred from receiving research support rewards if:
Their Google Scholar account contains papers not belonging to them.
They submit false information or papers that have already received financial rewards in previous cycles.
They submit an empty declaration or one that does not include all co-authors from within the university, including registered postgraduate students (master's and doctoral) who are not faculty members or assistants.
A copy of the required declaration form is attached, and compliance is mandatory.
Important Note: The university will strictly enforce the act requiring that each submitted paper must cite at least two references from articles published in Benha University journals, as a basic requirement for eligibility for international publication rewards (January/July cycles). This will take effect starting with the January 2027 cycle, applied to papers published after July 2026.
