President of Benha University Opened the Third Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Commerce

"Prof. El-Gizawy": We Are Keen on Formulating Innovative Solutions that Support Sustainable Development Digital Transformation
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, inaugurated the third scientific conference of the Faculty of Commerce, organized under the title "Data Governance and Risk Management in the Context of Digital Transformation as an Entry Point for Sustainable Development: Contemporary Perspectives on Administrative Sciences."
The opening ceremony was attended by:
• Prof. Gehan Abd El-Hady, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research,
• Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development,
• Prof. Suhair Shaarawi, Vice President of the Board of Trustees at Benha National University,
• Prof. Adel Zayed, former Vice President of Cairo University and former Governor of Kalyobiya,
• Prof. Suleiman Mustafa, former Vice President of Benha University,
• MP Ahmed Badawy, Chairman of the Communications and Information Technology Committee in the House of Representatives,
• MP Mohamed Attia Al-Fayoumi, Deputy Chairman of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives,
• MP Amr Darwish, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Committee in the House of Representatives,
• former deans of the Faculty of Commerce,
• Number of professors from commerce faculties at Egyptian universities.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy pointed out that the organization of the conference comes at a time when the world is witnessing rapid digital transformations, which compel academic, economic, and administrative institutions to reconsider their tools and strategies, and to adopt a scientific approach based on good governance and efficient risk management, ensuring sustainable development and enhancing competitiveness.
The university president added that the conference aims to discuss the latest research trends and practical insights in the fields of management, accounting, economics, and statistics, in order to formulate innovative solutions that support sustainable development in the context of digital transformation, based on Benha University's vision that knowledge is the fundamental pillar of progress, and that scientific dialogue between researchers and experts is the way to generate ideas that lead to a better future.
Prof. El-Gizawy praised the significant efforts made by the Arab Republic of Egypt in the field of digital transformation and enhancing data governance, noting that the state has given great attention to building digital infrastructure, developing legislation and policies that support transparency and efficiency, in addition to launching many national initiatives such as the "Digital Egypt" project, which aims to improve government services and expand the use of modern technology in various sectors. Egypt has also worked to enhance the capabilities of human resources through training programs and building digital skills, ensuring that it keeps pace with global developments and strengthens its regional and international position in this field.
Prof. Gehan Abd El-Hady added that data has become a strategic resource no less important than traditional resources, and its governance and sound management have become a necessity to ensure optimal use, enhance transparency, and support decision-making. She explained that risk management in a changing digital environment has become a fundamental pillar for protecting institutions and ensuring the sustainability of their operations, especially in light of the rapid technological developments and increasing challenges that require innovative scientific insights and practical solutions based on rigorous scientific research.
The university vice president emphasized that scientific research is the engine of development, and that such conferences represent a vital platform for exchanging ideas and experiences, and building bridges of cooperation between researchers and decision-makers, contributing to the formulation of effective policies that support digital transformation and achieve sustainable development goals. She noted the university's commitment to supporting innovation, enhancing researchers' capabilities, and linking the outputs of scientific research to the needs of society and the labor market, in line with the Egyptian state's vision for digital transformation and comprehensive development.
Prof. Magdy Meligi, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, stated that the choice of this year's conference title "Data Governance and Risk Management in the Context of Digital Transformation as an Entry Point for Sustainable Development: Contemporary Perspectives on Administrative Sciences" came in response to the directives of His Excellency Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding the necessity of keeping pace with artificial intelligence technologies and localizing technology. He added that with the increasing prevalence of these technologies and the immense amount of data they provide, the importance of governing and managing this data throughout its lifecycle has emerged to reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and support businesses in using data responsibly, ensuring transparency, minimizing security risks, and enhancing the ability to make sound decisions that reflect in achieving sustainable development goals.
Prof. Ali Khalil, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Commerce for postgraduate Studies and Research and the conference rapporteur, pointed out that the conference includes three discussion sessions, in addition to discussing 63 research papers covering all axes of the conference.
Prof. Sherif Al-Johari, the conference coordinator, added that the conference discussion sessions included a special session on the commercial studies sector, a session on risk management and business continuity in the context of digital transformation, and a session titled "Governance and Data Management in the Digital Age." Additionally, a workshop titled "Your First Steps Towards Your Dream Job" was organized on the sidelines of the third scientific conference of the faculty.
