As part of its community service role and commitment to environmental development, Benha University—under the auspices of Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University; Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; an Dr. Amani Abbas, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine—organized a free veterinary convoy in Tanan village, Qalyub.
Dr. Ihab El-Nahhas, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, confirmed that the convoy was held with the participation of Prof. Hani Shams, representing the Qalyubia Directorate of Veterinary Medicine, and coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service. He noted that the convoy aimed to provide free veterinary care to breeders, raise awareness of proper livestock management practices, and promote disease prevention.
The convoy included medical examinations and treatment for various animals, alongside awareness sessions for breeders on common veterinary diseases and preventive measures. Guidance was also provided on proper animal nutrition.
The convoy served 190 citizens, examining 44 cases of cattle and buffalo, 60 cases of sheep and goats, and 10 horses. Ultrasound scans were performed on 50 farm animals, while 1,095 birds—including chickens, ducks, pigeons, and rabbits—were checked. The convoy also carried out 3 surgical operations, analyzed 3 cases using a somatic cell counter for milk, and conducted 54 laboratory tests. Free medication was dispensed to all cases.
