Benha University has continued its efforts in serving the local community and promoting environmental development by organizing a free veterinary convoy in El-Shamout village. The initiative was held under the patronage of prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University; prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Amani Abbas, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The convoy, implemented by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, reflects the university's commitment to supporting breeders, safeguarding livestock and poultry resources, and providing comprehensive veterinary care to residents in rural areas.
Dr. Ihab El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the convoy was attended by Dr. Hany Shams, representative of the Qalyubia Veterinary Directorate, and coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service and Environmental Development. It also saw the participation of Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kandil, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, along with a team of veterinarians.
The convoy drew strong participation from villagers, offering medical examinations, necessary tests, and free treatment for all cases, in addition to veterinary awareness sessions and guidance on proper nutrition and disease prevention.
The activities served 217 citizens, including examinations of 69 buffalo and cattle, 90 sheep and goats, and 34 horses and donkeys. Ultrasound scans were performed on 50 farm animals. The convoy also treated 860 cases of poultry and rabbits, carried out 9 surgical interventions, and conducted 86 specialized laboratory tests, along with 2 analyses using the milk somatic cell counter. Free medication was dispensed to all cases.

This convoy is part of a series organized by Benha University across villages and districts of Qalyubia Governorate, reaffirming its leading role in community service and supporting comprehensive development efforts.
