The Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Benha University Hospital achieved a series of distinguished medical successes, performing several complex and life-saving operations for patients in critical condition. These achievements reflect the hospital's commitment to delivering advanced healthcare under the auspices of prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; Dr. Mohamed El-Ashab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhny, Executive Director of Benha University Hospitals; and under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Kassab, Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department, and Dr. Ehab Said, Head of the Anesthesiology Department.
The cases included:
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (Open Heart): An urgent intervention was performed for a female patient suffering from severe narrowing of the coronary arteries, including the left main artery supplying the heart muscle. The surgery was successful, and the patient was transferred to specialized intensive care for recovery.
Valve Replacement Surgery: A critical emergency operation replaced both the mitral and aortic valves for a female patient with serious complications, including a clot on the aortic valve and severe mitral regurgitation. Her condition stabilized, and she was admitted to intensive care.
Right Lung Decortication: Using a minimally invasive thoracotomy, the team operated on a patient with purulent effusion and pneumothorax. His condition improved significantly, and he was discharged to continue treatment.
The hospital administration affirmed that these successes were made possible through the integrated efforts of the cardiothoracic surgery team, anesthesiology specialists, and nursing staff.
