Cooperation Protocol Between Al-Azhar Mosque and Benha University in Religious and Cultural Fields

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Sheikh Ayman Abdel Ghani, Deputy of Al-Azhar, signed a cooperation protocol between the university and Al-Azhar Mosque to strengthen collaboration in religious and cultural fields.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of Al-Azhar's Riwaqs, and Dr. Hani Ouda, Director General of Al-Azhar Mosque.
Prof. El-Gizawy expressed the university's pride in hosting an Al-Azhar Riwaq within its campus, emphasizing that Al-Azhar has consistently supported the university with its scholars and knowledge. This partnership contributes to preserving national identity and moral values, while raising students' awareness to confront extremist ideologies.
He explained that the protocol aims to enhance cooperation in teaching the Qur'an and its sciences to both children and adults, offering instruction in Islamic jurisprudence, and spreading the authentic, moderate understanding of Islam according to Al-Azhar's methodology. The initiative includes programs designed to instill religious values and prepare students to stand against deviant ideologies, thereby fostering social peace.
El-Gizawy also noted that the protocol seeks to share outstanding educational, cultural, and pedagogical practices between the two institutions. It will involve joint frameworks for cooperation, exchange of invitations to attend programs and events of mutual interest, collaborative training and preparation for youth, and support for creative talents and gifted individuals.
Sheikh Ayman Abdel Ghani highlighted that Benha University is the first Egyptian university to host an Al-Azhar Riwaq on its campus. He explained that this initiative aligns with the directives of His Eminence, the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, to expand Al-Azhar's scientific and spiritual mission across Egypt's governorates. Through its Riwaqs, Al-Azhar seeks to reinforce values of moderation and balance, and to build enlightened religious and intellectual awareness among young people.
During the visit, prof. El-Gizawy toured Al-Azhar Mosque's Riwaqs, accompanied by Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad. He observed several educational circles offered by Al-Azhar, which include free lessons in Qur'an recitation, Tajweed, Qira'at, Islamic jurisprudence, and Arabic sciences, open to learners of all ages from Egypt and abroad.
