Benha University Organizes Specialized Workshop on Preparing EU Project Proposals

under the auspices of prof. Nasser El‑Gizawy, President of Benha University, prof. Gehan Abdel‑Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, attended a specialized workshop titled “Proposal Writing for EU Funding.” The event was organized by the International Relations Office at Benha University in cooperation with DAAD Kairo Akademie, and held at Banque Misr Hall in the university administration building. The workshop comes within the university's strategy to strengthen international cooperation and increase opportunities for researchers and faculty members to secure international funding. The session was delivered by Dr. Jane Hanna.
Dr. Abdel‑Hadi noted that the workshop aims to build the capacity of researchers and faculty members in preparing competitive project proposals to obtain European Union funding. She emphasized that organizing such workshops reflects the university's ongoing efforts to support scientific research, enhance international partnerships, and expand the participation of its researchers in internationally funded projects. This contributes to achieving the goals of Egypt's national strategy for higher education and scientific research, as well as Egypt Vision 2030, while reinforcing Benha University's position regionally and internationally.
During the workshop, Dr. Jane Hanna presented the latest mechanisms for applying to European funding programs and highlighted key opportunities available through Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, and Interreg NEXT MED. She explained funding priorities, eligibility requirements, methods for finding international partners, registration on the European Commission portal, and the preparation of technical, administrative, and financial aspects of projects.
The workshop saw wide participation from faculty members, researchers, and representatives of various faculties at Benha University. It included interactive discussions on best practices for preparing international projects and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of research proposals in line with European Commission requirements.
