Benha University President Reviews Accreditation Procedures for the Surgical Hospital by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR)

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, held an extended meeting with the quality management team at the university hospital to follow up on the implementation of accreditation procedures for the Surgical Hospital by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR). This comes within the university's plan to advance the healthcare system and prepare the hospital to join the comprehensive health insurance program.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Ashhab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, and Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhny, Executive Director of University Hospitals, along with the hospital's quality team.
During the meeting, prof. El-Gizawy emphasized that obtaining accreditation from GAHAR represents a pivotal milestone in the development of university hospitals, as it enhances the quality of medical services, enforces patient safety standards, and raises institutional performance efficiency in line with the latest approved quality systems.
He noted that accrediting the Surgical Hospital would be a qualitative addition to the healthcare sector in Qalyubia Governorate, as it would be the first hospital in the governorate to apply for GAHAR accreditation. This step qualifies it to join the comprehensive health insurance system and reflects the state's direction toward building an integrated healthcare system that provides safe, high-quality medical services to citizens.
Dr. Mohamed El-Ashhab explained that the hospital continues to implement a comprehensive plan to upgrade medical infrastructure and enhance therapeutic and specialized services, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements and achieving the highest quality standards. He affirmed that these efforts strengthen the hospital's readiness to integrate into the comprehensive health insurance system.
Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhny praised the dedication of doctors, nursing staff, and hospital employees, stressing that teamwork has been one of the key success factors in executing development plans. He added that the university administration continues to support its hospitals by modernizing infrastructure, equipping them with the latest medical devices, training healthcare professionals, and expanding therapeutic services — all contributing to the delivery of distinguished healthcare that meets citizens' needs
