Benha University Achieves a Breakthrough in International Publishing During 2025/2026, Strengthening Its Global Research Standing

Benha University has announced a significant leap in its international publishing performance for 2025, reflecting remarkable progress in scientific output and the quality of published research. This achievement underscores the university's growing stature among academic and research institutions regionally and globally, according to prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University.
Prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, revealed that the number of internationally published papers in 2025 reached 2,009, bringing the university's total scientific output between 2021 and 2025 to 9,440 papers — an increase of 682 compared to the start of the period.
In terms of international collaboration, the university recorded a cooperation rate of 64.7% of its published research, with 6,106 papers co-authored with international institutions and scholars, highlighting the breadth of its global research partnerships.
The indicators also showed an average of 17.8 citations per published paper, alongside a Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) of 1.69 in 2025 — meaning the university's research achieved 69% higher impact than the global average.
Regarding the quality of scientific publishing, 55.8% of the university's research appeared in Q1 journals ranked among the top 25% worldwide, while 23.7% was published in Q2 journals. Altogether, 79.5% of the university's output was published in the top 50% of global journals, and 94.3% in the top 75%.
The annual FWCI analysis revealed a notable improvement in 2025, rising to 1.69 compared to 1.35 in 2024 — the highest value recorded in the past five years.
These results reaffirm Benha University's commitment to strengthening its research capabilities and achieving scientific excellence, supporting its vision to enhance the quality of published research, expand international collaboration, and contribute meaningfully to global knowledge production.
