Benha University President Welcomes Delegation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR)

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, welcomed a delegation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), assigned by Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the Authority's Board, and led by Dr. El-Sayed El-Oqda, Board Member. The visit was part of a field mission to train staff at university hospitals on accreditation requirements and to review the readiness of the University Surgical Hospital for accreditation in line with approved quality standards.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Ashhab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhny, Executive Director of Benha University Hospitals; Dr. Ahmed Assem, member of the General Directorate of External Training; and Dr. Iman Abdel-Ghani, member of the same directorate.
Prof. El-Gizawy emphasized that Benha University attaches great importance to developing its university hospitals and improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients, in line with the directives of the political leadership and in support of the state's efforts to implement the comprehensive health insurance system and promote a culture of quality and institutional excellence.
He noted that obtaining accreditation from GAHAR represents a significant step, reflecting the university's commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and patient safety. He praised the efforts of the hospital administration and the dedication of faculty members, medical teams, nursing staff, and administrative and technical personnel in preparing for the accreditation visit.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that the university continues to implement comprehensive development plans for its hospitals, aimed at improving healthcare quality and providing a therapeutic, educational, and research environment aligned with best practices and approved standards.
Dr. El-Sayed El-Oqda commended the commitment and support he observed from Benha University and its hospitals in applying the Authority's standards. He stressed that adherence to quality, governance, and patient safety standards is the cornerstone of accreditation and continuous improvement in healthcare services. He explained that the training program includes practical guidance on accreditation requirements and mechanisms for implementation within hospitals, helping teams apply the standards effectively and prepare for the final evaluation stage.
Dr. Mohamed El-Ashhab confirmed that the University Surgical Hospital has recently undergone an intensive plan to meet all accreditation requirements, through upgrading the work environment, enhancing medical services, and applying quality and patient safety standards to ensure the delivery of distinguished healthcare.
Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhny highlighted the hospitals' commitment to continuous training for all medical and administrative teams and to spreading a culture of quality among staff. He noted that these efforts contribute to achieving accreditation standards, sustaining performance improvement, and strengthening readiness for accreditation in accordance with GAHAR standards.
