The British Ambassador in Cairo, the Presidents of Benha University and Canterbury Christ Church University, and the British Council were discussing ways to enhance academic and scientific cooperation.

The British Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mark Bryson Richardson, held a joint working session at the embassy in Cairo with:
• Professor Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University;
• Professor Claire Ozanne, President of Canterbury Christ Church University in the United Kingdom;
• Professor Mohamed Abdel-Magid, Vice President of Canterbury Christ Church University for Education, Student Growth, and International Cooperation;
• Mrs. Heba El-Zain, representative of the British Council,
To explore ways to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration among them and to expand partnership horizons in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The meeting was attended by:
• Prof. Rasha Kamal, the former cultural attaché of Egypt in the United Kingdom;
• Stephen Lamyman, Director of International Partnerships at Canterbury Christ Church University;
• Professor Hazem Aliwa, Dean of the Benha-Wuhan postgraduate Studies College and Academic Director of Benha University's branch in El-Obour City.
The meeting featured extensive discussions on opportunities for collaboration in:
• Joint academic programs,
• supporting student and faculty exchanges,
• Developing joint research projects that contribute to addressing developmental challenges and enhance the quality of educational and research outcomes.
The participants emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships between Egyptian and British universities that align with global developments in higher education and contribute to the transfer of expertise and knowledge while exchanging best academic practices, achieving mutual benefits for both parties.

Professor Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, highlighted the university's interest in enhancing its international partnerships with prestigious academic institutions, noting that collaboration with British universities represents an important opportunity to develop educational programs and elevate scientific research in line with the university's vision and strategy towards excellence and internationalization.
The President of Canterbury Christ Church University reviewed the proposed areas of collaboration between the two sides, which include the development of joint study programs, exchanging research expertise, and organizing scientific events and international conferences, contributing to supporting innovation and building academic capacities for students and researchers.
Professor Mohamed Abdel-Magid presented the future vision for the partnership, clarifying that the next phase aims to transition from cooperation in specific programs to a broader institutional relationship that encompasses education, scientific research, innovation, and capacity building. He emphasized that the goal is to develop a sustainable model of cooperation that provides high-quality international education to a larger number of students while maintaining their connection to their communities and the needs of the labor market and national development.
The participants agreed to continue joint coordination to study future cooperation opportunities and establish executive mechanisms for the proposed initiatives, enhancing academic and scientific relations between the two sides and supporting the progress of education and scientific research in both countries.
