Benha University Council held its meeting chaired by:
• Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University,
with the attendance of:
• Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hady, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research,
• Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development,
• Deans of faculties,
• Council members.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy began the session by thanking the academic leaders, faculty members, and administrative staff, praising their efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of exams for the academic year 2025/2026 and the announcement of results, as well as the provision of a suitable educational environment for students throughout the academic year.
The President announced the council's approval of Benha University's strategy in the field of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that artificial intelligence has become a fundamental pillar in building the future and driving change. He stated that investing in it is an investment in humanity, as it opens up opportunities for creativity and innovation and prepares students and faculty members to compete in the global job market, in line with the objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030 in digital transformation and innovation.
The council also approved the carbon footprint report for the university, directing the necessary measures to be taken to reduce carbon emissions within the campus and all faculties, university hospitals, and affiliated facilities, supporting the achievement of environmental sustainability and reaching a zero carbon footprint, thus enhancing the university's position as a leading model in applying environmental standards.
The council approved the regulations governing the granting of honorary doctorates, considering it an institutional honor awarded to individuals with exceptional achievements and documented impact in the fields of knowledge, innovation, and community service. All stages of nomination and evaluation will be conducted according to legal, independent, fair, and auditable controls, with these regulations applying to all nominations submitted to the university, excluding academic degrees granted through study and research.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy reviewed during the meeting the accreditation of 12 joint programs from the faculties of Commerce and Computers and Artificial Intelligence by Canterbury University in the UK, making them dual programs that grant joint degrees between the two universities. This reflects the quality of the academic programs at Banha University and provides students with educational opportunities in accordance with the latest international standards, contributing to the preparation of graduates capable of competing in global job markets.
The President also reviewed the university's financial performance indicators for the period from 2022 to 2026, which showed a significant improvement in resource management efficiency and the development of self-generated revenues, alongside enhancing transparency, financial control, and the application of governance principles, thus supporting financial sustainability and contributing to the elevation of the quality of educational and research services provided.
