Benha University Launches Internal Competition to Select Representatives for the National Waste Management Contest

Under the auspices of prof. Nasser El‑Gizawy, President of Benha University, the university has announced the launch of its internal competition “University Waste Management 2026” under the slogan “Recycle… Innovate… Build.” The initiative aims to select the best student teams to represent Benha University in the National Waste Management Competition organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the auspices of prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, and supervised by the Institute of Leaders Development, in cooperation with the Fund for Innovators and Talents. National prizes total up to EGP 450,000.
The competition seeks to encourage students to develop practical and sustainable solutions for improving waste management systems within universities, supporting the concepts of the circular economy and the green economy, while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.
Prof. El‑Gizawy affirmed the university's commitment to fostering creativity and innovation among its students, providing an enabling environment to transform ideas into implementable projects. He noted that the competition offers an opportunity to invest the summer break in developing innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurship skills.
The contest targets undergraduate and postgraduate students, with teams consisting of two to five members, and encourages the formation of multidisciplinary groups. Benha University has allocated EGP 45,000 in prizes at the university level:
EGP 20,000 for first place
EGP 15,000 for second place
EGP 10,000 for third place
In addition, financial and technical support will be provided to further develop outstanding projects.
The top three winning teams will qualify to represent Benha University in the national stage, where prizes amount to EGP 450,000. The deadline for registration and submission of files is 21 August 2026, via the following link:
