President of Benha University Inspects Faculty of Agriculture Farms in Moshtohor and Witnesses Tilapia Harvest Season

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, conducted an inspection tour at the Faculty of Agriculture in Moshtohor to follow up on development works at the faculty and review production levels at the fish farms.
The tour was attended by prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. El-Sayed Khater, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Mohamed Shaaban, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs; Dr. Hamed El-Zablawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The President of the University began his tour by inaugurating the harvest season of tilapia fish at the open fish farms, praising the role played by the Faculty of Agriculture in serving the community and utilizing its scientific and research capabilities to develop fish resources and increase production rates.
El-Gizawy affirmed Benha University's keenness to support the production units and farms of the Faculty of Agriculture, working continuously to double their output, in addition to establishing more ponds of various sizes and expanding the types of farmed fish. This contributes to meeting the needs of the local community and supporting efforts to achieve food security. He noted that the faculty currently includes 8 ponds for intensive fish farming and 6 ponds for open farming, with each pond producing about one and a half tons annually.
The President of Benha University pointed out that the university adopts the model of a “productive university”, by investing the capabilities of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine to support production and provide strategic commodities. This enhances the university's service and community role, as well as linking scientific research to the actual needs of society and contributing to finding scientific and practical solutions to the challenges facing the agriculture and production sectors.
He further explained that work is underway to expand the production of new types of fish, including shrimp, while improving production rates in line with the results of scientific research and various specializations, to maximize the use of the faculty's available resources.
During the tour, the President of the University inspected the project for upgrading and developing the Plant Protection building at the Faculty of Agriculture, which includes training and research laboratories, discussion halls, and offices for faculty members.
Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy reviewed the progress of the development works, directing that emphasis be placed on the quality of implementation and final finishes, and on providing all necessary facilities for the buildings in accordance with approved specifications and standards.
