Benha University Ranks Fourth Locally in Physical Sciences and Seventh Among Egyptian Institutions According to Nature Index

Professor Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the university has achieved the eighth position locally among 74 Egyptian research institutions, including universities, research, academic, and health institutions, according to the results of the Nature Index for scientific research. This marks an advancement of five positions from the previous period. The university also ranked seventh among 45 Egyptian academic institutions, moving up three positions from the previous period, for the period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that Benha University is ranked 3099 globally among 25,095 research institutions, advancing 1,145 positions from the previous period. It also ranked 2137 globally among 6,933 academic institutions, moving up 338 positions.
He explained that the indicators of international research collaboration for Benha University reached 90.4%, compared to 9.6% for local research collaboration, reflecting the university's growing presence in international research collaboration networks and its participation in research tracked by the Nature Index.
He pointed out that the Nature Index is one of the performance indicators for institutional research, measuring the research output of institutions through their contributions to publications in a selected group of high-quality scientific journals across the fields monitored by the index, using a methodology based on the number of articles and the research contributions of the institutions.
Prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research, stated that Benha University has achieved advanced positions in several scientific fields, ranking fourth locally in physical sciences and 1509 globally. The university also ranked seventh locally in natural sciences and 3015 globally.
She added that the university ranked eighth locally in biological sciences and 2712 globally, eighth locally in earth and environmental sciences and 1908 globally, tenth locally in chemistry and 2336 globally, and ninth locally in applied sciences and 1850 globally.
Prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi affirmed that these results reflect the continuous development in the research performance of Benha University and the efforts made by the university to support researchers and enhance international scientific publishing, alongside expanding research collaboration with scientific and research institutions at both local and international levels.
Professor Nasser El-Gizawy congratulated all faculty members, researchers, graduate students, and everyone who contributed to achieving this accomplishment, emphasizing the university's commitment to supporting the research system, encouraging international publishing, and fostering research collaboration, which contributes to enhancing the scientific and academic standing of the university and achieving further progress in international rankings and indicators.
the Nature Index allows users to track the outputs of research institutions and compare them with similar institutions at both global and local levels, according to geographic location, country, or region, as well as by scientific fields and various sectors. The index also enables the identification of institutions and countries collaborating on the tracked research and analyzes the strength of research collaboration and its output development over time.
