Under the auspices of prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Abdel Fattah Monegd Selim, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Benha University organized a free veterinary convoy in Batta Village. The initiative comes within the university's role in serving the local community and contributing to the preservation of livestock and poultry resources in the governorate.
Dr. Ihab El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, confirmed that the convoy was held in the presence of Dr. Hany Shams from the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Qalyubia, and coordinated with Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service and Environmental Affairs.
He extended thanks to Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kandil, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, along with the hospital team and the clinical and academic departments of the faculty, in appreciation of their efforts in ensuring the success of the convoy and providing veterinary services to citizens.
The convoy included medical examinations and check-ups for various types of animals, free treatment for diagnosed cases, veterinary awareness sessions on viral diseases, guidance on animal care, and raising awareness about the importance of regular vaccinations.
A total of 183 citizens benefited from the convoy's services. Examinations covered 97 cases of buffalo and cattle, 70 cases of sheep and goats, and 43 cases of equines. Additionally, ultrasound was used to examine 64 other farm animals.
The convoy also provided check-ups for 905 birds, including chickens, ducks, pigeons, and rabbits, as well as 3 cases of pets. Six surgical procedures were performed, alongside laboratory analyses, with free medication dispensed to all examined cases.
