Benha University has concluded the specialized training program “Systems of Freshwater Fish Farming and Breeding”, organized under the cooperation protocol between the university and the General Authority for the Protection and Development of Lakes and Fish Resources. The program aimed to support practical and specialized training for students, linking academic study with real-world applications and labor market needs.
The program was held under the auspices of prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Major General Hussein Farhat, Executive Director of the Authority, and ran for three days at the Authority's Training Center in the Fifth Settlement.
Prof. El-Gizawy emphasized the university's strong focus on practical and specialized training as a cornerstone for preparing qualified graduates capable of meeting labor market demands. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the Authority in providing specialized training opportunities for students of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and learn the latest methods and techniques in fish farming.
He explained that such programs are part of the university's strategy to connect academic education with practical application, enhance students' scientific and professional skills, and expand partnerships with specialized institutions to provide more training opportunities. This, he noted, contributes to preparing young cadres able to compete in the labor market and support production and development sectors.
The program included participation from a number of students from both faculties, who received specialized training combining scientific knowledge with practical application. The sessions covered fish farming systems, pond preparation, broodstock selection and breeding methods, biosecurity, fish diseases and prevention, feeding, and farm management.
Training also addressed water quality standards in farms and hatcheries, alongside practical applications related to increasing production and improving fish product quality. This gave students direct exposure to operational mechanisms in the field, linking their academic knowledge with practical realities.
At the conclusion of the program, certificates of training were awarded to participating students, in recognition of their commitment to benefiting from the program and completing the practical and preparatory component of their professional journey.
