Benha University President: Partnership with Chinese Universities is a Model of Strategic Cooperation between Egypt and China

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, affirmed that the Chinese President's visit to Egypt marks a significant milestone in the trajectory of strategic relations between the two countries. He emphasized that it reflects the depth of Egyptian–Chinese partnership across various fields, particularly higher education and scientific research. Benha University, he noted, stands among Egypt's leading institutions in forging distinguished academic and research collaborations with world-class Chinese universities, being a founding member of the Executive Office of the Silk Road University Alliance, chaired by Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Prof. El-Gizawy highlighted that Benha University has, over the past years, successfully established an extensive network of scientific cooperation with Chinese universities. This has opened new horizons for students, researchers, and faculty members to benefit from China's advanced expertise in technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, engineering, and applied sciences. He pointed out that Wuhan University is one of Benha's most prominent strategic partners, with cooperation dating back to 2016. This partnership has witnessed the signing and renewal of memoranda of understanding and student exchange agreements, the provision of scholarships, and joint academic and research initiatives. A key outcome of this collaboration was the establishment of the Benha–Wuhan Graduate School at the university's Obour campus, offering dual degrees in remote sensing, geographic information systems, international business management, and multidisciplinary nursing programs.
He further noted that Benha University also maintains strong ties with Wuhan University of Technology, where more than a decade of collaboration has yielded joint programs in research, education, and academic exchange, particularly in engineering and information technology, alongside participation in international conferences and scientific symposia. Recently, Benha signed a cooperation agreement with Foshan University, covering academic and cultural exchange, faculty research collaboration, and the establishment of joint projects and research laboratories—supporting the university's drive toward international openness and global academic presence. In addition, Benha enjoys robust cooperation with Huazhong Agricultural University, which has provided dozens of scholarships to Benha affiliates and facilitated joint research projects.
Prof. El-Gizawy stressed that cooperation with Chinese universities extends beyond student and researcher exchanges to encompass long-term research partnerships, academic program development, technology transfer, and support for innovation and entrepreneurship. This aligns with Egypt's national vision for sustainable development and building a knowledge-based economy.
He concluded by affirming that Egyptian–Chinese relations are witnessing an unprecedented phase of growth and prosperity, and that Benha University is committed to further expanding its cooperation with prestigious Chinese institutions. Such efforts, he said, contribute to preparing globally competitive graduates, enhancing the university's regional and international standing, and embodying the vital role of higher education as a bridge of communication and mutual understanding between the Egyptian and Chinese peoples.
