Benha University Converted Its Fleet of Vehicles to Natural Gas in Support of Clean Energy

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the initiation of a plan to convert the university's fleet of vehicles to operate on natural gas. This initiative is part of the university's commitment to rationalizing fuel consumption, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the Egyptian state's efforts to expand the use of clean energy sources.
Prof. El-Gizawy emphasized that this step is in line with the university's direction to apply sustainability concepts and green transformation across its various sectors by adopting practical solutions that contribute to environmental preservation, resource efficiency, and operational effectiveness. The university president explained that the conversion plan will begin with a number of the university's vehicles, with the aim of gradually completing the conversion of the entire fleet according to a specific timeline, thereby achieving optimal benefits from using natural gas as fuel for the university's vehicles.
He noted that relying on natural gas helps reduce the consumption of gasoline and diesel, and limits emissions from vehicle exhaust, which positively impacts air quality and environmental preservation, as well as contributes to lowering the university's operational expenses.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that Benha University continues to implement several measures aimed at rationalizing energy consumption and improving resource utilization, as part of the university's strategy to enhance environmental sustainability and support the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.
He stressed the importance of continuing to apply environmentally friendly practices within the university, affirming that educational and research institutions have a role that extends beyond education and scientific research to support community efforts in addressing environmental challenges and promoting a culture of responsible energy and resource use.
