Eng. Hossam Abdel-Fattah, Governor of Kalyobiya, and Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, attended the ceremony for the reception of the torch for the 14th University Youth Week, as part of its tour among the participating Egyptian universities in preparation for the week's activities, which will be hosted by Minya University from September 25 to September 30, 2026.
The event was attended by :
• Prof. Gehan Abdelhady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research;
• Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development;
• Prof. Khaled Eissawy, General Coordinator of Student Activities at the university;
• Prof. Nabil El-Sayed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education for Education and Student Affairs;
• Mrs. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environment;
• Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah, Director General of Youth Care at the university.
Eng. Hossam Abdel-Fattah, the Governor of Kalyobiya, affirmed that student activities are a fundamental element in building the personality of university youth, as they play a role in discovering talents, developing skills, and enhancing students' abilities in communication and teamwork.
The Governor expressed his happiness in participating in the reception ceremony for the torch of University Youth Week, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering a spirit of belonging and positive competition among Egyptian university students, and providing them with the opportunity to showcase their talents and capabilities in various fields.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, stated that the Egyptian state places great importance on empowering youth and investing in their capabilities by implementing numerous programs and initiatives aimed at scientifically and practically qualifying them, as well as developing their leadership and innovative skills to meet future requirements and labor market needs.
Prof. El-Gizawy pointed out that the reception of the torch for University Youth Week, which is held under the auspices of:
• Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research,
• hosted this year by Minya University under the presidency of Prof. Essam Farhat, represents an important national and youth occasion that embodies the values of belonging, cooperation, and creativity among Egyptian university students. It reflects the state's interest in youth as one of the most important pillars in building the new republic and shaping the future of the nation.
The President of Benha University added that the university prides itself on participating in this national youth event, which serves as an important platform for discovering and refining student talents, developing their skills and capabilities, and enhancing the spirit of competition and teamwork, contributing to the preparation of a generation of aware youth capable of bearing responsibility and actively participating in the development and progress witnessed by the Egyptian state.
