Benha University is participating in the 12th All-Africa University Games "Cairo 2026," hosted by Egypt under the slogan "One Torch.. One Continent." The event features over 2,000 young men and women representing 18 African countries, in addition to Egypt, and will continue until September 16.
The opening ceremony was attended by:
• Prime Minister Prof. Mostafa Madbouly,
• Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research;
• Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports;
• Group of university presidents,
• leaders from relevant ministries,
• The Federation of African University Sports (FASU),
• The Egyptian University Sports Federation (EUSF),
• Members of the participating delegations and missions,
At the Velodrome of the Cairo International Stadium.
Benha University's participation is auspices by Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University, and Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy expressed his pride in the university students' participation in this major event, emphasizing Benha University's full support for its students. He encouraged them to take part in various local and international activities, as these represent an important opportunity for networking, exchanging experiences, building relationships among students, and benefiting from their diverse sports and student experiences.
The activities include recreational and sports events, competitions, student challenges, talent showcases, general knowledge quizzes, as well as performances of folk and heritage arts, events to introduce the cultures of the continent's countries, and a "Peace Marathon."
The activities also include artistic, cultural, and handicraft workshops, and exhibitions of traditional Egyptian costumes. These events aim to enhance the participation of Egyptian and African university students and support networking, communication, and cultural exchange among the continent's youth, in cooperation with relevant Egyptian federations for sports, electronic gaming, and recreational activities.
