Invitation to Benha University Members to Participate in the Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Social Solidarity Fund

The Board of Directors of the Social Solidarity Fund for faculty members and their assistants, along with employees from the Universities of Zagazig and Benha, invites all members of the fund from Benha University to participate in the extraordinary general assembly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM, in the Grand Forums Hall at Zagazig University.
The Board explained that the meeting aims to complete the procedures that began during the ordinary general assembly meetings for the fiscal year 2025, with the goal of approving important amendments to the fund's bylaws and the insurance benefits provided to members. This is in line with the requirements of the Financial Regulatory Authority and aims to enhance the rights and entitlements of fund members.
The agenda of the assembly includes two main items: the first is to approve the amendment of the fund's bylaws and to align them with the unified model for private insurance funds issued by the Financial Regulatory Authority, in implementation of the field inspection report related to the fund. The second item pertains to the approval of amendments to the insurance benefits, contributions, and the conditions for joining the fund membership.
The Board noted that the approval of these amendments represents a fundamental step towards activating new insurance benefits for members. The proposed amendments stipulate that a member or their beneficiaries, upon termination of service due to reaching the legal retirement age, death, or total permanent disability, will receive an insurance benefit equivalent to 250 months' salary, in addition to 7.5 months for each year of subscription starting from January 1, 2026. This will be based on the last contribution salary on which benefits are calculated, as opposed to the current system based on 200 months calculated on the previously approved basic salary.
The Board emphasized that the extraordinary general assembly requires a stricter quorum than that of the ordinary general assembly, clarifying that the quorum calculation is limited to members present in person, while written proxies are restricted to voting participation and do not count towards the legal quorum.
The Board warned that failure to achieve a quorum will lead to the postponement of decisions regarding the amendments to the bylaws and insurance benefits, which may result in delays in the new benefits taking effect until legal procedures are completed and final approval is obtained from the Financial Regulatory Authority.
The Board concluded its invitation by emphasizing the importance of attendance and active participation from fund members at Benha University, as this meeting represents a significant milestone in developing the system of insurance benefits and enhancing social protection for members and their families, achieving their interests and future aspirations. The university will provide a number of buses to transport members from Benha to Zagazig and back.
