Benha University President Inaugurates Plant Protection Department Development Project Worth EGP 41 Million and Inspects Academic Progress at Agriculture and Veterinary Faculties

Prof. Nasser El‑Gizawy, President of Benha University, inaugurated the project to upgrade and modernize the Plant Protection Department at the Faculty of Agriculture in Moshtohor, with a total investment of EGP 41 million. The initiative comes within the university's broader plan to enhance its educational and research infrastructure, expand capacity, and provide an advanced learning and research environment that meets the needs of students, scholars, and the labor market.
The opening ceremony was attended by prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; prof. Ali Shams El‑Din, former President of Benha University; prof. Sayed Khater, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; and prof. Abdel Fattah Monjed, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, along with faculty members and college leaders.
During his tour, prof. El‑Gizawy inspected the newly completed upgrades, which included modernizing student and research laboratories, improving lecture halls, and refurbishing offices for faculty and staff. The enhancements aim to create a dynamic academic and research environment that strengthens teaching quality and supports scientific activity.
The Plant Protection building comprises a ground floor and two upper levels, with a total area of approximately 1,905 square meters. It houses seven laboratories, two lecture halls, and sixteen offices for faculty members, significantly increasing capacity and improving the quality of educational and research services offered.
Prof. El‑Gizawy emphasized that the development of educational facilities and research laboratories is a cornerstone of Benha University's strategy to elevate academic and research standards. He highlighted the importance of providing modern resources and equipment that foster innovation, align with scientific advancements, and respond to the demands of sustainable development and the labor market, while reinforcing the university's role in serving the community.
On a related note, the President inspected the start of the academic year at the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, ensuring that lectures were running smoothly and that student activities were underway. He confirmed the readiness of facilities to welcome students and personally greeted new entrants in classrooms and lecture halls, welcoming them into the Benha University family.
