Prof. El-Gizawy: We are committed to enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship and providing integrated pathways to support innovators.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the launch of the "Benha University Startup Summit," aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship by transforming scientific research outputs and innovative student ideas into knowledge- and technology-based startups, linking university innovation with market needs and investment opportunities.
The university president stated that the summit is part of the university 's strategy to maximize the benefits of scientific research outputs and innovations, converting promising ideas and projects into applications, products, and services with economic and societal value, contributing to building a knowledge-based economy.
Prof. El-Gizawy indicated that the university aims to provide a supportive environment for undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members, and researchers with innovative ideas, helping them to develop their concepts, study market needs, and reach the stage of establishing startups capable of growth. He emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships between the university, the industrial sector, and investment entities.
Prof. Gehan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, explained that the summit targets undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and assistant staff, providing opportunities for those with promising ideas and projects in various disciplines to develop their innovations and turn them into applicable and marketable products and services.
The Vice President added that the summit particularly focuses on investing in scientific research outputs by supporting the conversion of master 's and doctoral thesis results, faculty research, and outstanding graduation projects into the foundation for startups capable of providing practical solutions to the challenges facing industry and society.
She noted that the summit 's pathway begins with shaping the idea and testing its market viability, progressing through prototype development and business model construction, leading to incubation, funding, and investment opportunities, while encouraging the formation of multidisciplinary teams that combine scientific, technical, administrative, and commercial aspects.
Prof. Ayman Samir, Advisor to the University President for Innovation, pointed out that the summit represents an opportunity to transition research and innovative ideas into practical application by supporting researchers and students in transforming their solutions and technologies into projects that respond to market needs.
The university advisor added that the summit combines technical qualification and communication with investors, helping participating teams establish scalable startups, thereby enhancing Benha University 's role in producing knowledge and transforming it into economic value and job opportunities.
The summit includes a package of support programs, acceleration, awards, and expected investments totaling nearly 1.5 million EGP, with funding opportunities ranging from 50,000 to 200,000 EGP for selected companies.
