200 Research and Innovative Outputs Ready for Industrial Application and Investment

Prof. El-Gizawy: Technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship are key pillars of the university's strategy.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, confirmed that the university possesses a promising base of research and innovative outputs that are applicable for industrial use and investment, noting that there are 200 research papers and innovative projects ready for collaboration with the industrial sector at a technological readiness level (TRL) of 4 or higher. This is part of the university's efforts to link scientific research with industry needs and support a knowledge-based economy.
This statement was made during Prof. El-Gizawy's presentation of the indicators and readiness map for industrial collaboration of research and innovation outputs at Benha University during a session of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, with the attendance of Prof. Mustafa Rifaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, university presidents, and council members.
Prof. El-Gizawy explained that the readiness map for industrial collaboration of research and innovation outputs at the university from 2020 to 2026 showed that there are 488 published scientific papers in the SciVal database, of which 200 research papers and innovative projects are qualified for collaboration with the industrial sector at TRL 4 or higher.
The President of Benha University stated that these indicators reflect the university's direction towards maximizing the benefits of research results, not just settling for academic publishing, but working on developing research outputs and advancing them to stages of testing and application that meet the needs of productive sectors and open new horizons for collaboration and investment.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that the university's innovation portfolio includes 31 innovative projects, 14 of which have received competitive awards and funding, emphasizing that these results reflect the research and innovative capabilities that the university possesses, which can be developed and transformed into products and services with added value that serve both industry and society.
He pointed out that the technology readiness indicators showed that 151 research papers and projects reached TRL 4, 35 projects reached TRL 5, 13 projects reached TRL 6, and one project reached TRL 7, explaining that these levels reflect the transition of several research outputs from development and laboratory testing stages to more advanced application stages.
The university president confirmed that Benha University is simultaneously working on raising manufacturing readiness levels (MRL) and commercial readiness levels (CRL), which helps prepare innovative outputs for transition to production and marketing phases, enhancing their adoption by companies, industrial institutions, and investors.
Prof. El-Gizawy noted that Benha University has identified several priority areas for collaboration with the industrial sector, including automation and smart production lines, water and environment, smart agriculture and food security, energy, and infrastructure, indicating that these areas are linked to industry needs and development priorities in Egypt.
He emphasized that technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship represent fundamental pillars of the university's strategy, stressing its commitment to building effective partnerships with industrial institutions, the private sector, and investors, enabling the utilization of scientific and research capabilities and transforming them into economically and developmentally beneficial projects and applications.
Prof. El-Gizawy also confirmed that Benha University will continue to support researchers and innovators and provide the necessary environment to develop research ideas and transform them into applicable outputs, noting that investing in knowledge and innovation is a fundamental pillar for enhancing the university's competitiveness and supporting sustainable development paths and community service.
