Benha University Council held its meeting chaired by Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University, with the presence of:
• Prof. Gehan Abdel Hadi, Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research,
• Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development,
• Deans of colleges,
• Council members.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy began the meeting by congratulating, on behalf of the university council, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the glorious October victories, affirming that this anniversary will always remain a great national occasion and a symbol of pride for Egyptians.
He also congratulated Prof. Mohamed Nabhan on the issuance of the presidential decree renewing his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, wishing him continued success in his duties. He expressed gratitude to Prof. Tamer Arafa, vice Dean for postgraduate Studies and Research, for his efforts during his tenure at the college.
Prof. El-Gizawy also congratulated Prof. Ali Abdel-Maboud on his appointment to manage the Faculty of Science, Prof. Abdul-Fattah Monjed on his appointment to manage the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Prof. Mahmoud Tawfiq on his appointment to manage the Faculty of Pharmacy, wishing them success.
He congratulated all university members, including vice presidents, deans, faculty members, staff, and students, on the occasion of the start of the new academic year 2026/2027, wishing for a year filled with success, excellence, and scientific and research achievements.
The President of Benha University noted that the university welcomed approximately 32,000 new students this year, emphasizing the university's commitment to providing necessary support and care for students, especially those in need, through the student solidarity fund that helps cover tuition fees for eligible students, alongside providing a safe and equitable educational and psychological environment that ensures equal opportunities for all students.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy announced the start of classes this year at the Benha and Wuhan Colleges of postgraduate Studies, as well as the Faculty of Pharmacy in Al-Obour City, confirming that these colleges represent a new academic addition to Benha University and enhance its educational capabilities and openness to international partnerships, supporting its role in achieving sustainable development goals.
He also announced the addition of several new specialized academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students that align with labor market needs and community demands, including the launch of a professional diploma program in rubber and plastics technology at the Faculty of Science, which is a special fee-based program, along with a digital institutional media program as a special fee-based program under the credit hour system.
Prof. El-Gizawy stressed that the introduction of these programs aligns with the university's vision to prepare graduates with the skills and competencies needed to compete in the local, regional, and global job markets, as well as to keep pace with future jobs and support sustainable development efforts.
The university president explained that Benha University is seeking to obtain the necessary approvals and coordinate with the Roads Authority to modify the traffic axes surrounding the university campus in the Kafr Saad area, which will facilitate entry and exit from the university and serve the faculties of Sports Sciences, Physical Therapy, and Law, along with the new facilities for the Faculty of Specific Education and the Faculty of Applied Arts and the electronic testing center.
Prof. El-Gizawy reviewed the status of completing the procedures for allocating a site to establish a social club for university members under a usufruct system, as part of the university's approach to providing social and recreational services for staff, faculty members, and affiliates.
He clarified that the procedures include allocating a piece of land measuring 500 square meters on the Nile Corniche in Benha City and working on obtaining the necessary licenses to establish the club.
The university council reviewed a report on Benha University's achievements during the previous academic year 2025/2026, which included indicators and results reflecting the extent of efforts made and cooperation among university leaders, faculty members, staff, and students.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy confirmed the university's continued implementation of its plan to develop the education and research system and the services provided to its students and affiliates, and to continue working towards achieving sustainable development goals and supporting the Egyptian state's trends towards building a knowledge society and enhancing the quality of higher education.
