President of Benha University Participates in Workshop on Activating Program and Performance Budgeting within Public Financial Management Systems

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, took part in a workshop entitled “Plan for Launching the Activation of Program and Performance Budgeting on Public Financial Management Systems: Current Reality and Future Visions.”
The event was attended by Dr. Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Walid Abdullah, Head of the State General Budget Sector; Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Sustainable Development Plan Follow-up; along with a number of university presidents and secretaries-general of governorates.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy stressed the importance of activating program and performance budgeting in developing the financial management system, enhancing the efficiency of available resource utilization, and linking financial allocations to performance targets and achieved results. This, he noted, contributes to rationalizing public spending, achieving efficiency and transparency in resource management, and supporting sustainable development plans.
During the workshop, Dr. Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance, welcomed the attendees and reviewed the Ministry's efforts in strengthening governance, digital transformation, and developing the public financial management system.
Mr. Walid Abdullah outlined the workshop's objectives and the current status of the Ministry of Finance's systems versus the targeted state, while the Ministry's working team presented a briefing on the plan to launch the implementation of program and performance budgeting.
The working team of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development also delivered a presentation on the Ministry's integrated system, within the framework of enhancing integration between planning and public financial management systems and developing mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of plans and programs. This supports the efficiency of public spending and contributes to achieving sustainable development targets.
