Held under the theme “Our Graduates: Partners in Success, Our Future Unites Us,” the event brought together 15 companies with the aim of strengthening ties between graduates and labor-market institutions and opening new pathways for employment and training.
The opening was attended by Dr. Abdel Fattah Monged, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; under the supervision of Dr. Ehab El-Nahhas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Magdy Hassan, General President of the Veterinary Syndicate; Dr. Magdy Fouad, President of the Veterinary Syndicate in Qalyubia; coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant University Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development; and with the participation of a number of faculty members and representatives of the companies involved.
Prof. Taha Ashour stressed that the forum constitutes an important platform for dialogue between the university and the labor market, and a genuine opportunity to align university education outcomes with society's needs and employment requirements. He noted that veterinary medicine is no longer limited to animal health care and treatment; it has become a fundamental pillar of the food-security system, food safety, public health, the control of zoonotic diseases, and the development of livestock, poultry, and fisheries resources. It also plays a key role in supporting industries linked to animal production and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
The Vice President expressed his gratitude to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine administration and all parties involved in organizing the forum, as well as to the private-sector institutions that help provide job and training opportunities for young people. He underscored the importance of integration between education, production, and sustainable development in preparing qualified veterinary cadres who meet labor-market needs and support the national economy.
Dr. Abdel Fattah Monged affirmed that the first Alumni Forum marks an important step toward strengthening communication between the faculty and its graduates and consolidating cooperation with labor-market institutions in the fields of veterinary medicine, animal, poultry, and fisheries production, as well as the pharmaceutical and food industries.
He explained that the forum represents the beginning of a new phase of sustainable partnership aimed at developing graduates' skills and expanding their access to distinguished employment opportunities. He pointed out that the faculty's graduates are an extension of its mission and its ambassadors in the arenas of work, production, and scientific research.
He added that the faculty is keen to maintain continuous contact with its alumni and to provide them with the necessary support, emphasizing that the relationship between a student and their faculty does not end with the awarding of a graduation certificate but rather begins a new stage of belonging and cooperation. He also called on graduates to pursue continuous learning and development, acquire digital and practical skills, and strengthen their abilities in communication, teamwork, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Ehab El-Nahhas noted that the veterinarian plays a pivotal role in protecting human and animal health, safeguarding the safety of food of animal origin, supporting the food-security system, and confronting zoonotic diseases and their health and environmental risks.
The Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs stated that the participation of 15 companies in the forum aims to foster direct communication between graduates and labor-market institutions, enabling them to learn about employment requirements, training opportunities, and the professional pathways open to them.
Dr. Magdy Hassan affirmed that the veterinary profession constitutes a primary line of defense for human health and food security within the framework of the “One Health” concept, which links the health of humans, animals, and the environment.
He praised the standard of graduates from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Benha University, stressing the importance of integration between academic and professional institutions. He noted the General Veterinary Syndicate's commitment to supporting its members through training and qualification programs, opening avenues for entrepreneurship and investment, and defending the rights of veterinarians while upholding the dignity of the profession.
