He was accompanied by Prof. Ayman El-Shahabi, Governor of Damietta and former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra, Prof. Gamal El-Saeed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University, Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, President of Aswan University.
The event was attended by Prof. El-Sayed Fouda, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Gamal Abdel Aziz, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra, Prof. Farouk Ismail, Chairman of the Conference Leadership Committee, Prof. Mahmoud Suleiman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Conference Chair, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Chairman of the Conference, Mrs. Sherine Shawky, Secretary General of the University, Mr. Refaat Nan, Assistant Secretary of the University for Administrative Affairs, and faculty professors. Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy emphasized that the conference is an important opportunity for exchanging ideas and experiences, and for working together to innovate new and sustainable solutions to electrical energy challenges, reflecting Benha University's commitment to contributing to the development and maximizing the benefits of electrical energy in our country, and achieving a sustainable future in line with Egypt's Vision 2030. Prof. El-Gizawy noted that the conference is dedicated to exploring the future of electrical power in Egypt and the world, pointing out that the electrical power sector has become a pivotal sector for achieving sustainable development and enhancing innovation. The President of the University added that Egypt and the world are moving towards a radical transformation based on modern technology and innovation to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability. The Egyptian state is currently working on developing the electrical energy infrastructure through ambitious and large projects such as solar power plants, wind energy, and clean nuclear energy, which enhances reliance on renewable energy sources and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Prof. El-Gizawy explained that globally, massive investments are directed towards clean energy technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells and clean nuclear energy, with a focus on reducing carbon footprints and achieving sustainable development goals. Prof. Gamal Abdel Aziz stated that the Middle East Conference on Electric Power Systems is being held from December 17 to 19 and is considered one of the oldest and largest international conferences specialized in electric power systems in the Middle East since 1989, enjoying a prestigious position internationally. It is also a golden opportunity for exchanging ideas and visions, serving as a major platform for knowledge exchange and discussing the latest developments in the fields of energy, renewable energy, smart grids, energy efficiency, and sustainable energy. It is also an opportunity to learn about the solutions technology can provide to our environmental and economic challenges in line with our resources. Prof. Abdel Aziz affirmed that cooperation between universities and private and public companies is the optimal way to achieve qualitative leaps in energy, which forms a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development, improving quality of life, and stimulating economic growth. Prof. Farouk Ismail indicated that the conference aims to highlight the latest research, studies, and technologies in the field of electrical power engineering and new and renewable energy, which supports Egypt's future vision for producing renewable and clean energy through solar power plants, wind energy, and green hydrogen, while mitigating climate change by reducing carbon emissions from traditional generation stations and discussing key issues related to electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, and exchanging experiences and knowledge among researchers, engineers, and specialists in the electric power industry. Prof. Mahmoud Suleiman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra for Postgraduate Studies and Research, clarified that the conference topics are diverse, covering all research directions for electric power systems as follows: planning, operation, optimal control of electric power systems, generation, transmission, distribution of electrical power, electrical machines and automation, uses of power electronics to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of electrical energy, high voltage engineering and power quality, smart and micro grids, environmental impacts of renewable energy sources/distributed generation systems, electric vehicles and their charging stations, using hydrogen in clean energy production, electrical energy management, applications of the Internet of Things/Artificial Intelligence in electric power systems, energy storage technologies, automation of electric power systems, applications of nanotechnology in power systems, and communication applications in electrical systems. Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim mentioned that the number of research papers participating in the conference reached 160 across all topics included in the conference, with the number of reviewers totaling 556 Egyptian and foreign reviewers from over 60 universities worldwide, noting that the number of foreign participants is 29 from 17 different countries (USA, France, England, Germany, etc.).
