For the fifth year... Benha University launches the Healthcare Hackathon 2026

Under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the university announces the organization of the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan “Innovating the Future of Healthcare” in February 2026, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This initiative stems from the belief in the role of higher education and scientific research in supporting digital transformation, as well as the ongoing pursuit of achieving the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030 towards a digital economy based on knowledge. It aims to encourage innovation, research, and development by empowering and motivating young programmers and idea creators to present their smart ideas and programming projects.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy stated that the Healthcare Hackathon aims to find innovative solutions in various fields, including:
- AI in Diagnostics
- Remote Patient Monitoring
- Mental Health & Wellness
- Healthcare Accessibility
- Telemedicine Solutions
- IoT for Elderly Care
- Medical Data Visualization & Analytics
He added that the winners of the Hackathon will receive cash prizes totaling 175,000 Egyptian pounds provided by Benha University; in 7 categories, the first place will receive a prize of 12,000 pounds, the second place 8,000 pounds, and the third place 5,000 pounds.
Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that this is the fifth edition of the Hackathon. Benha University previously held the Smart Cities Hackathon in March 2021, the Smart Government Hackathon in February 2022, the Emerging Technologies Hackathon for Empowering People with Disabilities in February 2023, and the Smart Education Hackathon in February 2024.
Prof. Shady Y. El-Mashad, Executive Director of Information, mentioned that all details related to the event, including application dates, introductory sessions, participating sponsors, and other information, will be announced through the hackathon website, Benha University website, and the official university Facebook page: https://hackathon.bu.edu.eg .
Benha University invites all students from Egyptian universities and institutes to participate with their ideas in the Hackathon.
