Prof. Nasser Al-Gizawi, President of Benha University, conducted an inspection tour of the ongoing implementation phase of a photovoltaic solar power station at the university's administration headquarters.
This step comes as part of the university's ongoing efforts to rationalize energy consumption and enhance efficiency. He was accompanied during the tour by Prof. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
Prof. Nasser Al-Gizawi stressed that Benha University remains fully committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and advancing Egypt's Vision 2030 through its integrated academic, research, and community activities. Like other leading academic and research institutions, the university plays a major role as a key partner in realizing these goals across their three core dimensions—social, environmental, and economic. As one of the most important incubators of innovative ideas and practical solutions to global challenges, the university is well-positioned to generate meaningful positive impact in the field of sustainable development.
Prof. Taha Ashour explained that the photovoltaic solar power station installed at the administration headquarters is designed as a grid-connected PV system.
It has a nominal capacity of 76.7 kilowatts and consists of 124 photovoltaic panels, each with a nominal capacity of 620 watts. The station is expected to generate approximately 166 megawatt-hours of electrical energy annually, delivering an estimated financial return of around 330,000 Egyptian pounds per year.
