The present study is entitled ”an instructional model designed to promote critical thinking skills and its place in teaching English as a foreing language”. The purpose of this study is to propose an instructional model to promote the development of critical thinking skills through English language teaching and learning in secondary stage. Research questions : the study attempts to answer the following main question, and minor questions. 1 – how can we promote the development of critical thinking skills through an instructional model in English language ? a ) what is the theoretical basis of the model ? b ) what are the characteristics of the model ? c ) what are the learning areas of English language curriculum that can promote critical thinking skills ? d ) what are the strategies in English language teaching that can effectively promote students’ ability to think critically ? e ) what is the effect of aprogram based on that model on the promotion of students’ critical thinking skills ?. |
